Day 26: snowfall.

The little boy was lonesome in the woods by the clear cold stream. It flowed in a crisp slowdown. The silence bothered him, the little boy becoming antsy, his fingers flexing to his palm and away, looking in a circle for anyone around. Colorless snot dribbled to his lips. When the brittle crack of a branch, like a gunshot, caromed all around him, he yawped, tears plucked from his eyes. His fingers were chapping, his palms felt like he had pulled heavy weight by a rope. A miserable in-between temperature wheedling its way into his body, chilling him from the inside out. The endless plane of white before him, and snow breaking underfoot.

You have so many one-shot ideas that I would love to see go into a bigger production. This is one of them I think. It may not be much, but I can see questions on what the boy is doing there and all kinds of things that he can get into. Explore this perhaps? Or explore any of these small ideas. Keep it up too.

I know. It’s bumming me out that I can’t seem to find enough time in the day to really sit down and put out a good story. I’m growing tired of these one-shotters, because I feel like it’s cheap, it’s cheating, et cetera. It’s writing, yeah, but hell — not much of any. Trying to straighten stuff out so I can dive into this.

Don’t be hard on yourself about it. Fact is, sometimes there isn’t the time. The best thing is that you are writing usable material that can be elaborated on down the road. That’s a great start.
