Day 9 (2).

It takes a certain measure of cowardice to shirk responsibilities to oneself. For four months he had steadily and readily improved himself, daily, ripping calluses from his fingers, feeling a slick sweat oil the dumbbells that grew somehow heavier, defying his expectations. Then one day it stopped and what was lost was renewed, unwelcome once more. What makes a coward is not a relapse but the resignation towards one, and he wouldnt bear it again, couldnt, in fact. Auxiliary work — the paperwork, the cat-and-mouse relay for a mark of approbation and approval, hey you did all right, kid — that didnt matter anymore. Walt Whitman sang a song of himself and found himself anthologized into the written lore of a new, bright land. I havent even tuned up yet.

I dig that contrast with Whitman. Tuned up that last sentences by so many decibels. Keep up the work, dude.
